Dr. Willmar Schwabe India Acquires Sanat Products Limited

Commenting on the acquisition, Mr. Ashish Kumar, Managing Director, Dr. Willmar Schwabe India Pvt Limited stated, “Sanat products are the perfect addition to the homeopathic portfolio of Schwabe India and the acquisition would allow us venturing into the OTC distribution in order to reach out to a wider range of consumers. We are also investing significantly into new technology, and especially on the equipment for all the plants of Sanat Products Limited to make them world-class.”

Mr. Olaf Schwabe CEO of Schwabe Group and member of the fifth generation of the Schwabe family is really enthusiastic about the acquisition and commented: “We are looking for more similar strategic tie-ups in the future and intend to become a force to reckon with in the natural product segment in the coming 5-10 years in India.
Mr. Pradip Burman, Chairman SPL, which has famous brands like Sunova Bioslim, Sunova Spirulina, Sunova Curcumin, and Uplat, commented on this by saying, “With the strength of DWSI, worldwide, the immense potential of the nutraceutical OTC products of SPL can be realised. The knowledge base of SPL in extracts of medicinal plants, from the Indian traditional medicine, can also be validated for the world market”.
The products at Sanat are manufactured under three major divisions; Herbal Extracts division (HED), Ethical Product Division (EPD) and Consumer Product division (CPD). Herbal Extracts division (HED) is progressively engaged in the extracting and marketing of standardized Herbal Extracts armored to meet the ever expanding needs of the pharmaceutical, cosmetic, ayurvedic and food industries.
Ethical Product Division (EPD)/Prescription based drugs offers a diverse basket of over 25 products encompassing a wide therapeutic mix covering significant chronic and acute segments aimed at preventing, treating & curing disease. These products are spread across various segments; dental, oncology, gynecology, diabetes, cardiovascular diseases, dermatology, pain management etc. While the Consumer Product division (CPD)/Nutraceuticals range across Spirulina, Natural glow, Bioslim, and Dr. Shugar.
