Doctors aspiring to join govt job will have to clear written test
Now doctors aspiring to join the Haryana Civil Medical Services (HCMS) will have to pass a written exam in addition to facing an interview.
Last week, chief minister Manohar Lal Khattar had stopped the process of recruiting 500 doctors started by the state health department.
Sources said it would now be mandatory for aspiring government doctors to clear a written exam. Based on their academic records coupled with performance in the exam, the department would be preparing a merit list for the appointment of doctors to the HCMS.
Sources said a proposal related to this had come from the chief minister’s office (CMO) last week. On Tuesday afternoon, principal secretary to CM Rajesh Khullar visited health minister Vij with the file related to the recruitment of doctors.
To overcome the shortage of doctors in the state, the Haryana government had taken out the appointment of medical officers in the state-run hospitals from the purview of the Haryana Public Service Commission (HPSC) a decade ago. In November 2019, the health department had started the process for the recruitment of doctors, which was abruptly stopped during the tussle between Vij and Khattar.
