DMK chief Karunanidhi admitted to hospital

A bulletin issued by hospital executive director Dr Arvind Selvaraj said Karunanidhi would be discharged in the afternoon after completing the procedure.

CHENNAI: DMK president M Karunanidhi, 94, was admitted to Kauvery Hospital here on Wednesday for an elective procedure to change tracheotomy tubes.

A bulletin issued by hospital executive director Dr Arvind Selvaraj said Karunanidhi would be discharged in the afternoon after completing the procedure.

Duty doctors said all his parameters were normal.

In December 2016, the five-time Tamil Nadu chief minister underwent a tracheostomy procedure to optimise breathing. Doctors said the procedure helped him overcome breathing difficulties caused by a throat and lung infection.
