Delhi: 227 new Covid cases, 8 deaths in last 24 hours

NEW DELHI: Delhi recorded 227 fresh Covid-19 cases and eight deaths on Thursday, while the positivity rate stood at 0.28%. The infection tally settled at over 6.33 lakh and the death toll mounted to 10,782, the authorities said.

According to the Delhi health department, 81,550 tests were conducted the previous day, including 51,404 RT-PCR and 30,146 rapid antigen tests. The number of tests per million was over 5.3 lakh on Thursday, while the cumulative figure crossed the one-crore mark.

The active cases tally on Thursday dropped to 2,120 from Wednesday’s 2,147. The department’s bulletin said, the total number of novel coronavirus cases had climbed to 6,33,276, while the recovery rate was over 97%.

According to the Wednesday’s bulletin, of the total 9,103 beds in Covid-19 hospitals, 8,099 are vacant. As many as 6,20,374 patients have recovered, been discharged or migrated out of the city so far, it added.
