China's health system has 'withstood' the test of COVID, says vice premier

The weakening pathogenicity of the Omicron variant had now created the conditions that allowed China to improve its COVID prevention measures.

Beijing: China's health and disease prevention system has withstood the test of COVID-19 after nearly three years, Chinese vice premier Sun Chunlan said in remarks published by official news agency Xinhua.

The weakening pathogenicity of the Omicron variant had now created the conditions that allowed China to improve its COVID prevention measures, she said at a meeting of frontline experts at the National Health Commission.

She also urged community officials to correctly understand and execute COVID prevention measures and not distort policies.
