Chandigarh: Centre nod to 88 new faculty posts for PGI

Chandigarh: In its first meeting held between the governing body and the institute body meeting of PGI with Union health and family welfare minister Dr Harsh Vardhan, 88 new posts for faculty in PGI, and 25 posts of faculty for AIIMS Bathinda and AIIMS Raebareli were approved. This meeting was held on Thursday.

Apart from this, the institute's purchase committee which had the sanction power of instruments for up to Rs 25 lakh till now has been enhanced up to Rs 1 crore. The minister also approved 1,000 posts for the Sangrur satellite centre, which include faculty, nursing staff, paramedical and other staff.

During the meeting 36 new posts for the drug de-addiction centre was also approved. Dr Harsh Vardhan has now asked members to come up next time with two ideas each which could improve things for the betterment of PGI
