Cancer awareness session to be held in Chennai
A Powerpoint presentation will be made by clinical oncologist Dr M Janarthinakani, which will be followed by a question and answer session.
“We are conducting such a session for the second time. We held it in Chromepet for the first time last month and about 70 people attended it,” says R Muthukrishnan, senior manager – helpline, HelpAge India.
“We want to conduct such awareness sessions as cancer is now widespread and it is often detected only at a much later stage,” he said.
A Powerpoint presentation will be made by clinical oncologist Dr M Janarthinakani, which will be followed by a question and answer session.
“He will talk about various kinds of cancer, especially prostate cancer, the causes, symptoms, initial screening and treatment,” says Muthukrishnan.
“Hopefully this will encourage elderly people to watch out for symptoms and go for regular screenings” he says.
