Boy suffering from cancer gets govt aid

Salem: Chief minister Edappadi K Palaniswami on Wednesday ordered the health department secretary Dr J Radhakrishnan to provide medical assistance to a seven-year-old boy who is suffering from blood cancer. C Lokesh, of Kovanaickenpatty near Omalur, is suffering from blood cancer. His father Chandra Kumar, had already spent Rs 7 lakh for Lokesh’s treatment. Chandra Kumar is financially struggling to continue the treatment for Lokesh.

A few Salem-based dailies wrote about the health condition of Lokesh and his father’s predicament. The chief minister, who saw reports in the dailies, immediately contacted health department secretary Radhakrishnan and asked him to provide the necessary medical assistance for the boy.
