Baran gets Rs 3cr Niti award for healthcare, nutrition

Cases of malnutrition among children in Baran’s Shahbad and Kishanganj areas are always a challenge for health authorities. The district administration pointed out that the money which they get from Niti Aayog would be spend on health and nutrition.
“We will spend the money to buy equipment and for developing infrastructure. The money will be pumped into health and nutrition sector in the district,” collector Indra Singh said.
The health department claimed that they worked in the sectors of health and nutrition of pregnant women and children. “We have conducted different activities to improve antenatal care and looked after the nutrition of pregnant women and children,” said Dr Sampath Raj Nagar, chief medical health officer, Baran.
The district was assessed on different parameters by Niti Aayog including health and nutrition, education, agriculture and water resources, financial inclusion and skill development and basic infrastructure.
According to the Niti Aayog report, Baran secured third positon in health and nutrition, 6th position in education, 46th in agriculture and water resources, 83rd in financial inclusion and skill development and 13th in basic infrastructure.
