AURANGABAD : ZP health department issues notices to 139 bogus practitioners
The Aurangabad zilla parishad health department on Friday issued notices to 139 bogus medical practitioners, ordering them to submit their degrees and affiliations to the department by July 22.
The ZP district health officer BT Jamadar said, "139 bogus doctors have been identified in the district. If they fail to submit valid documents within the deadline, action would be initiated against them. An action squad comprising a block development officer, medical officer and the police will be set up to crack down on quacks and file FIRs against them."
Jamadar said these medical practitioners have been directed to produce valid diploma or degree from the Maharashtra University of Health Science.
Many bogus doctors from other states, claiming to have specialisation in treating some or the other ailments like baldness, piles, arthritis, and weight loss, have set up clinics across the district and were doing good business, Jamadar said.
A high-level committee had checked all clinics in the district and found as many as 139 doctors not having a valid degree of any of the five approved medical courses – MBBS, BDS, BHMS, BAMS, BUMS – under the Medical Act, 1961.
