Patna: The state unit of Indian Red Cross Society celebrated the Red Cross Day by organising a free health camp and other activities here on Monday. Society chairman Dr B B Sinha said 150 persons were examined for free by a team of doctors. "The society has also adopted 10 tuberculosis (TB) patients from financially weak families for nutritional support," he added.

At least 23 other persons, including doctors and social workers, also volunteered to adopt more TB patients for nutritional support.

Dr Sinha said the Patna-based Red Cross Hospital has implanted lenses to about 4,000 cataract patients in two years. The hospital also has blood bank, physiotherapy, dental and digital x ray facilities.

Earlier, Red Cross officials garlanded the statue of society's founder Henry Dunant.
