65-year-old dies of Covid; Tamil Nadu records 382 fresh cases
One person died while the number of fresh cases in Tamil Nadu dropped further to 382 on Thursday compared to 421 on Wednesday and 470 on Tuesday. The number of active cases also fell to 3,312.
A 65 year- old male from Coimbatore with diabetes and hypertension was admitted to Government Medical College and Hospital in Coimbatore with complaints of fever, cough and breathing difficulty on April 23. He tested positive for Covid-19 the next day. He was declared dead a day later on April 25.
Barring three districts - Karur, Perambalur and Tirupathur - all districts reported new cases. Fresh cases in Chennai dropped to 81. There were 51 new cases in Coimbatore, followed by 34 in Salem, 24 in Chengalpet and 22 each in Tirupur and Kanyakumari. Four districts reported cases in between 15 and 11 new cases, and 25 others reported cases in single digits.
