21 states/UTs have higher recovery rate than national average

NEW DELHI: The Covid-19 recovery rate in 21 states and Union Territories (UTs), including Delhi, Gujarat and Uttar Pradesh, was higher than the national average of 60.77%, the health ministry said on Sunday even as India’s case count mounted to 6.73 lakh and the death toll rose to 19,268.


Officials said more number of recoveries than active cases indicated better clinical management which was the focus of the government strategy to combat Covid-19. Collective and focused efforts for containment and management of Covid-19 by the central government along with states and UTs saw the number of recovered patients rising to 4,09,082, the health ministry said.

On Sunday, the ministry recorded 2,44,814 active cases in the country. Recovered cases exceeded active cases by 1,64,268 as of Sunday, the ministry said. During the last 24 hours, 14,856 Covid-19 patients were cured. “This takes the national recovery rate among Covid-19 patients to 60.77%,” the ministry said. “There are 21 states and UTs with a recovery rate more than the national average,” it added.
