Parents say needle left in 6-yr-old's head after surgery, Mathura CMO orders probe
Chief medical officer (CMO) of Mathura, Dr SK Tyagi has ordered a detailed check-up of a six-year-old boy whose parents have alleged that the doctors of a private medical college had left a needle in his head after a surgery
According to sources, after six-year-old Bansi underwent a surgery, he started complaining of a severe headache. As the pain refused to subside, his father opened the bandage and noticed what seemed like a “sharp object” in his son’s head. He immediately approached the authorities of the private hospital where Bansi had undergone surgery.
Owner of KD Medical College Manoj Agarwal while admitting that the boy underwent surgery at his hospital for a head injury, refuted allegations of negligence. He said, “The boy’s parents are blackmailing us. A mistake must have occurred when the boy was taken elsewhere for changing the dressing. Something must have happened then."
Agarwal said he would reply to the CMO after getting a feedback from the doctors who treated Bansi.
The boy's father Dauji Dayal said Bansi had sustained serious head injuries on February 15 while he was playing at home. He was taken to KD Medical College in Mathura, where doctors put 13 stitches on his head and discharged him the next day after prescribing some medicines and injections.
"Since then, Bansi has undergone two dressings. The private hospital authorities admitted their mistake and offered to treat my son free of cost, besides promising to reimburse the entire money spent on his treatment,” said Dayal.
CMO Tyagi said, "I have ordered a detailed check-up of the boy at the district hospital. If his parents’ allegations are found to be true, then action will be taken against the hospital authorities concerned."
