Surat hospital will screen newborns for hearing defects

On World Hearing Day on Sunday, a city-based ENT hospital launched a program to screen newborns for hearing defects and treat them.

SURAT: On World Hearing Day on Sunday, a city-based ENT hospital launched a program to screen newborns for hearing defects and treat them.

The programme — Sharvan Shruti — will have a team of experts from the hospital visiting different gynaecological and NICU hospitals in the city and conducting screening of infants for hearing defects and also offer free treatment.

The programme was launched by Shruti ENT Hospital & Cochlear Implant Centre, which has been offering such free services to the hearing-impaired children for the last 10 years.
