Chennai: An advanced robotic surgical unit has been set up at Tamil Nadu Government Multi Super Speciality Hospital in Chennai at a cost of ₹35 crore, health minister Ma Subramanian said on Wednesday. Robotic surgery allows doctors to perform many types of complex procedures with more precision, flexibility and control than is possible with conventional methods. It is usually associated with a minimally invasive surgery — a procedure performed through tiny incisions -- but doctors are now increasingly using them for certain traditional open surgical procedures.
