Respiratory testing unit set up in Hyderabad

D: A state-of-the-art testing facility for respiratory systems, which will be especially useful for sportspersons has been set up at Sunshine Hospital in the city.

Speaking at the launch of the facility on Saturday, former Indian cricketer VVS Laxman said, “As elite sportspersons we had to go to Sydney, Johannesburg or London to undergo this kind of test earlier. So I am really glad that Hyderabad will now have a world-class facility for sportspersons.”

The facility brings tests like spirometry, lung diffusion capacity, impulse oscillometry and body plethysmography under one roof.

“This lab will help doctors to evaluate patients’ difficulty in breathing and other respiratory and cardiovascular problems. It can assess any problem in overall performance of sports personnel,” said Dr AV Gurava Reddy, MD, Sunshine Group of Hospitals.
