Rajasthan: Woman refuses to get discharged from hospital claiming she gave birth to twins
A woman refused to get discharged from Zanana Hospital as she claimed that she had given birth to two infants but the hospital handed over only one infant to her.
The family has also lodged an FIR at Sindhi camp police station mentioning that sonography report has confirmed two fetuses in the womb. But, doctors handed over only one infant to them. The family has also complained to Zanana Hospital superintendent Dr Lata Rajauria complaining that the staff had also threatened the family of dire consequences.
In the complaint, Tara Devi, relative of the patient, mentioned that the staff told them that the two fetuses in the womb had a fight among them and one of them died and they had thrown it into the drain. Now, the hospital is ready to discharge the patient but the family is refusing to get discharge from the hospital. “We will not get discharged from the hospital, until the hospital does not hand over the second infant,” said Naresh Tanwar, a social activist, who is helping the family in the matter.
The patient was admitted to the hospital on July 9 and on July 10 doctors performed a C-section. However, the patient’s family claimed that sonography report of the patient conducted in the ninth month of pregnancy shows that there are twins in the womb. They questioned the hospital how it is possible that the patient gave birth to only one infant. Two sonography reports, one performed at Zanana hospital and other performed at a private laboratory had shown the same result indicating twins.
However, the doctor who performed the C-section, claimed that it could be a technical problem in the sonography report, which indicated twins in the womb. “I performed the C-section and she had delivered only one infant. Her sonography report performed at 5th month of pregnant had shown single infant,” said Dr Anil Gurjar, who performed the C-section.
He said that the woman gave birth to a baby weighing 3.1kg. Dr Gurjar said that C-section was performed as the woman had shown abnormal presentation of the baby.
Besides, Sindhi camp police station Zulfikar Ali said that they are investigating into the matter after registering a complaint.
