Radiology department resident doctors allege hostility at Safdarjung hospital
Resident doctors of the radiology department of Safdarjung hospital have taken to social media to vent out their frustration over the alleged hostile atmosphere created against them by the faculty, which, they claim, has led to several doctors leaving for other hospitals.
As of now, there are only 18 senior resident doctors in the radiology department against a sanctioned 33 posts. Many SRs have resigned from their posts allegedly due to “unnecessary pressure” and “demeaning remarks” passed on them.
Tweets put out by the doctors highlighted the alleged hostilities. One such post stated, “No briefing, no orientation. Bring this “xyz” catheter and this “xyz” wire to me. You get terrified by the atmosphere and intimidating people around. Then the professors yell— “you people pollute the Safdarjung environment. You came from Ram Manohar Lohia hospital … go back to RML and leave SJH. You don’t know how to do such a basic procedure (sclerotherapy of vascular malformation) . How have you passed MD Radiology.”
When contacted, medical superintendent Dr BL Sherwal said he had taken a note of the matter. “I will call a meeting in which students, residents and faculty members will sit together and the matter will be amicably resolved,” he said.
