Patna : Parliamentary team to inspect three hospitals

PATNA: Members of a parliamentary panel on health led by Rajya Sabha MP Ram Gopal Yadav will reach state on a four-day visit on November 27 to review implementation of the Centre’s Pradhan Mantri Swasthya Surakasha Yojana (PMSSY) at three premier government hospitals – All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS)-Patna, Patna Medical College and Hospital (PMCH) and Anugrah Narayan Magadh Medical College and Hospital (ANMMCH)-Gaya.

The three hospitals, which have been proposed to be developed into superspecialty hospitals, had received funds from the Centre under PMSSY for infrastructure development.

Two panel members from Bihar – Jamui Lok Sabha MP Chirag Paswan and Rajya Sabha MP Dr C P Thakur – will accompany Yadav during his visits to the three hospitals.

“As the committee is a recommendatory body, we will make recommendations to the central government according to the findings,” Thakur said.

AIIMS-Patna superintendent Dr C M Singh said the parliamentary team would inspect infrastructure and availability of faculty members and staff at the three hospitals.

PMCH superintendent Dr Rajiv Ranjan Prasad said land issues have been resolved and the construction work would begin in January next year. “The PMCH will be transformed into a superspecialty hospital,” he added.

ANMMCH principal Dr Hiranya Garbh Agarwal said the hospital would be turned into a superspecialty hospital with 176-bed capacity.

The parliamentary team will also meet state chief secretary Deepak Kumar on November 30.
