Odisha government picks Care Hospitals to operate its 100-bed hospital

HYDERABAD: In a first, the Odisha government on Tuesday assigned Care Hospitals to operate and manage a 100-bed super specialty cardiac care hospital in Jharsuguda to be built by the state government under a public-private partnership (PPP) mode.

The hospital expected to come up on a 5.5 acre of land provided by the Odisha government would entail an investment of Rs 75 crore and 50% of its capacity would be earmarked to give free treatment to poor patients apart from offering clinical specialisations and disciplines necessary for cardiac care, said a statement by Care Hospitals.

Dr Mudit Saxena, chief executive officer of CARE Group of Hospitals, said, “The hospital is to be set up under public private partnership (PPP) model. The state government has provided 5.5 acres at Jharsuguda. CARE Hospitals would operate, maintain and manage the unit for 15 years, which could be extended. The government is targeting completion of the project over the next two years.”

The agreement was signed by the officials of Health and Family Welfare Department of Odisha and CARE hospitals in the presence of Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik at the State Secretariat.
