Nashik : Foundation laid at referral hosp for kidney transplant facility
MLA Devyani Pharande said that Rs 2.5 crore have been approved by the state government for setting up the kidney transplant operation theatre (OT).
Patients from across the Nashik division and other division will be able to benefit from the facility. Pharande said that Rs 2.5 crore have been approved by the state government for setting up the kidney transplant operation theatre (OT).
On the occasion, she thanked state finance minister, Sudhir Mungantiwar, for approving the funds for the kidney transplant OT at the referral hospital.
Though, the hospital has been approved for conducting kidney transplants, it is yet to get the necessary staff including nephrologist and technicians. Pharande said that the recruitment of the necessary staff for the kidney transplant facility has been approved.
“Once the facility is ready, the required staff would soon be appointed. The doctors and technicians can also be appointed on contractual basis for the transplant procedures,” she added.
A large number of people, who are financially weak, come to the hospital for super speciality treatment of heart, kidney or cancer. Senior officials said that the rush of the patients is continuous. Approximately 5,000 patients are checked in the OPD on a monthly basis.
The hospital has a 50-bed facility for cardiac patients, 30 beds for the urology department and 20 beds for cancer patients.
