Nanavati Hospital rejigs top management to power Rs 400 cr expansion
Patankar is an MD in hospital administration and planning from Kasturba Medical College, Manipal, and brings with him 15 years of experience.
The 66-year-old hospital, inaugurated by the first Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru, and recently handed over its operations and management to Radiant LifeCare promoted by Abhay Soi, has roped in Dr Rajendra Patankar as the Chief Operating Officer.
Patankar is an MD in hospital administration and planning from Kasturba Medical College, Manipal, and brings with him 15 years of experience. He has commissioned seven hospitals and successfully managed them in the past.
His past assignments include Manipal Hospitals, Fortis Healthcare, Hinduja Hospital, Aster DM Healthcare and Surya Child Care. He is also on the academic board of the Welingkar's School of Management for hospital administration.
The hospital has also poached leading healthcare expert Promod H Lele, who was an ex-CEO of Hinduja Hospital as appointed him as the management advisor. A charted accountant, Lele was chief executive of Hinduja hospital for 11 years prior to which he was also the chairman of Parke Davis and an EVP of Johnson & Johnson.
It has also appointed Deepak Samant, a cost management accountant with 25 years of experience, as the chief financial officer. Samant was a past CFO with Wockhardt Hospitals and finance director with Hinduja Hospital for nine years.
Another appointment is of Anil Sahasrabudhe as vice president for materials. He held various senior positions with drug firms Alkem, Tata Pharma, Parke Davis and hospitals like Hinduja and KDA Hospitals.
Commenting on the top level appointments, hospital's executive director Dr Mradul Kaushik said, "We have embarked on a journey to transform Nanavati as a stand-alone quaternary care hospital of the megapolis, bringing in the best in technology and skills.
"Our plan is to triple the capacity with another 600 beds and more super-speciality wings. All these appointments reflect this motto."
