Mumbai : Ayurvedic doc held for running clinic with bogus registration
Bandra resident was caught during certificate verification
Raccha claimed that he had lost his original certificate and filed a complaint with Kherwadi police station. He also produced a copy of the complaint.
The officials then verified the registration number on the copy of the certificate and found it to be registered in another person's name. The officials learnt that Raccha was using this bogus certificate to treat patients in his clinic since 1994. His other documents were also verified, and it was found that he is not registered with MCIM. "He was running the clinic in Bandra East illegally without proper certification, and using the bogus certificate. He has cheated the MCIM and the patients as well. After these things were verified, the MCIM officials approached us and lodged the complaint based on which, we registered an FIR. The accused has been placed under arrest," said a police officer.
"We are trying to ascertain from where he obtained the certificate and there is a possibility that the accused was helped by others. There is also a possibility that his medical degree is also bogus, and the verification for the same is under way," the police officer said.
The accused has been booked under relevant sections of Indian Penal Code (IPC) for cheating, forgery and impersonation along with sections of Maharashtra Medical Council Act.
When contacted, Raccha's sister refused to comment.
