Nagpur: Lymphatic filaria patients would no longer need to visit the malaria and filaria department at Mahal from different corners of the city. Municipal commissioner Radhakrishnan B on Monday inaugurated a new morbidity management and disability prevention (MMDP) clinic for filaria patients at Manewada urban primary health centre (UPHC).

NMC malaria and filaria officer Dr Jasmine Mulani said that it is the first urban MMDP in the state. “The civic chief is planning to make customized footwear available for the filaria patients besides MMDP kits,” she said. Led by Dr Mulani, the department trained all zonal medical officers and staff at UPHC for the MMDP clinics.
