“We have sought support from the JICA for the AIIMS because it would be helpful in bringing technical upgradation and so we can make better facilities available to provide for an ideal rehabilitation centre,” Dr Rajesh said.
“We have sought support from the JICA for the AIIMS because it would be helpful in bringing technical upgradation and so we can make better facilities available to provide for an ideal rehabilitation centre,” Dr Rajesh said. “We are already doing a JICA project in GRH,” she added.
The health secretary, who is on a two-day visit to Madurai, inspected the 200-acre AIIMS site on Thursday. It is a Rs 1,264 crore project.
Construction of a compound wall on the land earmarked for the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) at Thoppur was progressing at a fast pace, she told reporters here.
“Work on building a three-foot-high compound wall is progressing at a brisk rate with prefabricated tiles. We have approved the extra land that was required. The project will be completed at a fast pace within the original time frame that was given,” she said.
On Friday, the health secretary carried out a general inspection at the Government Rajaji Hospital and Madurai Medical College. “The TAEI Centre and the super speciality sections are all in a good condition and the staff is providing the best possible care. A few suggestions for improvements have been given,” she added.
