Land woes: ESIC hospital hits roadblock in Indore
Employees’ State Insurance Corporation (ESIC) might have laid the foundation stone for the new hospital in Nanda Nagar with great pomp and show, but the project has already hit a roadblock.
“State government has allotted 105 acre to ESIC. Of this, a person has encroached upon 6.33 acre for farming. After authorities approached him for vacating the land under Public Premises (Eviction of Unauthorized Occupants) Act 1971, encroacher has moved high court but did not get stay,” ESIC regional director Sathyanarayana Manikara told TOI.
“By the time (3-4 months) process of allotting tender of proposed construction is complete, we are hopeful to get possession over the land from court,” he said. According to Manikara, he has approached collector for possession over another 15-acre land that was given on lease to one ‘Kusth Rogi Sangh’ as the land is required to build quarters for staff to be recruited for proposed hospital. “Lease of 15 acres of land allotted to the society expired in 1981 and thereafter, the administration has allotted it 50 acre in Machal village. ESIC has approached collector for eviction of the society,” Manikara said.
Collector Lokesh Kumar Jatav said, “We are there to support ESIC in starting construction works and if there is any legal issue, it will be taken care of.”
