Kolkata: Doctor harassed after patient dies in hospital

​The patient, Raju Jelle (34), was admitted to the hospital with fever and abdominal pain. His family alleged that he was stable on Monday afternoon but his condition worsened after being administered an injection by a nurse following the doctor's instruction. The man felt sick and was having difficulty in breathing. He died at night.

Howrah: A doctor was allegedly harassed after a patient died due to negligence in treatment at Jagatballavpur Rural Hospital. The district health department has formed a three-member committee to investigate the incident.

The patient, Raju Jelle (34), was admitted to the hospital with fever and abdominal pain. His family alleged that he was stable on Monday afternoon but his condition worsened after being administered an injection by a nurse following the doctor's instruction. The man felt sick and was having difficulty in breathing. He died at night.

The irate kin of the patient cried medical negligence and harassed the doctor. Howrah's CMOH, Kishlay Dutta, said further steps will be taken once the committee submits its investigation report.
