KERALA: General hospital to get a cath lab soon
Health minister V S Sivakumar said that the government will soon set up a catheterization lab, also referred to as cath lab, at the general hospital for which Rs 4.6 crore will be sanctioned.
For this, the government has already created the posts of cardiology consultant and senior cardiology consultant.
This is for the first time that a cath lab will be set up in a general hospital. The most modern cath lab will be come up in the cardiology department at the surgical block of the general hospital.
Steps are on to convert the general hospital into a medical college, for which construction of new facilities has already begun.
The general hospital, along with the women and children hospital at Thycaud, are being converted into the second medical college of the district.
