Hamidia hospital’s OPD to shift to new building next month
We expect the facility to be open for public in June,” said Hamidia hospital superintendent Dr Deepak Maravi.
Registration, immunisation and screening of patients would take place on the ground floor. The first floor, with dedicated units for each of the departments, would also be connected to the old hospital building. The walk-way connecting the old building would also provide link to IPD patients. Old wing of Hamidia hospital would continue for the time being. It has about 500 beds. A new 2,000 bed hospital building is expected to be completed in two years.
“New OPD would have ICU and three modular OTs besides dedicated care for trauma and emergency,” he added. The new building has been delayed by over three years. It was only after the surprise inspection of CM Shivraj Singh Chouhan last year, that construction work gained pace.
Once the new OPD block is opened to public, Hamidia hospital would implement new protocol for movement of patients and people within the hospital. Preference would be given to referral patients from community health centres and primary health care centres or district hospital.
Once screened at the primary level centres, and if patients are in need of further investigations, they would be referred to Hamidia hospital for specialist care. Secondly, movement of patients and relatives outside OPD block of the hospital would be restricted.
As per Hamidia hospital estimates, over over 2,000 patients are attended to at the out-patient department daily.
