Govt hospitals in Indore to ready 700 beds for kids
Of the 700 beds, 250 will be in health department’s five hospitals — PC Sethi, Civil Hospital Mhow, community health centres in Sanwer and Depalpur and Hukumchand Polyclinic.

The rest of the beds are identified in Government Chacha Nehru Hospital and MTH- two associate hospitals of Mahatma Gandhi Memorial Medical College.
Covid-19 district nodal officer Dr Amit Malakar said, “After reviewing stocks in health facilities in Indore district, a detailed plan with demands for infrastructure upgrade and human resource requirements, were sent to the senior health authority in Bhopal.”
“The plan for setting up 700 beds in seven facilities is finalised in government facilities for children in the third wave”, said Dr Malakar.
“In the five facilities of the health department, a demand for bilevel positive airway pressure (BiPAP) machine, ventilators, doctors and staff required, were sent. As per the estimates, the facilities will require 40 ventilators, 71 BiPAP, 150 oxygen points, 47 doctors, 121 nurses and 150 other staff”, added Dr Malakar.
The preparation for setting up of dedicated paediatric units began after Covid-19 created havoc during the second wave in the months of April-May.
