Dengue cases reach 57 in city, pvt hosps say getting 4-5 patients daily
The health department, along with the Noida Authority, has started fogging drives across the city, and 10 beds at the district hospital and five beds each at community health centres have also been reserved for dengue patients.
Private hospitals in Noida said they had been getting at least 4-5 patients with high-grade fever and diarrhoea every day. The cases have reached 57 in Noida.
“As of now, we are seeing 4-5 symptomatic patients with high-grade fever who are being tested for confirmation. The cases are expected to rise if there is more rain and people do not take precautions of sleeping in mosquito nets, wearing full sleeves, and ensuring that water does not get collected near their surroundings,” said Dr. Saibal Chakravorty, senior consultant in internal medicine at Metro Hospital in Noida.

In view of the recent rains in Delhi and NCR, the number of mosquitoes is expected to rise, causing an increase in dengue patients. To keep track of cases being reported in the private clinics and hospitals, and have asked the private centres to share reports of dengue-positive patients every three days with the CMO office. Out of the total tests, 10% of the samples will be cross-checked by the health departments to keep a check on the exact number of cases in the districts.
The doctors at the district combined hospitals said at least 30–40 patients coming to the OPD are reporting symptoms like viral fever, and some have severe symptoms that could be dengue and are being told to get a test done.
People are advised to wear full-sleeved clothes and have a nutritional diet to avoid getting infected.
