Delhi: 50% slot for Covid-19 as govt adds 685 beds in 14 pvt hosps
To augment the availability of Covid-19 beds at hospitals, Delhi government has added 685 beds in 14 private hospitals through an order issued on Friday, apart from adding extra beds in eight hospitals of its own.
The letter, issued by Nursing Home Cell of Directorate General of Health Services, Delhi government, stated that it was decided to allocate 50% of the total bed capacity in 14 hospitals for treatment of Covid-19 patients. The medical superintendents of these hospitals have been directed to admit Covid patients as per the revised allocation of beds, and update the data on the ‘Delhi Corona’ mobile app with immediate effect.
The private hospitals with Covid beds where the number has been increased are Mata Chanan Devi Hospital (Janakpuri), Metro Hospital (Preet Vihar), Venkateshwar Hospital (Dwarka), St. Stephen’s Hospital (Tis Hazari), Apollo Hospital (Sarita Vihar), Fortis SS Hospital (Shalimar Bagh), Max SS Hospital (Patparganj and Saket), BLK Hospital (Pusa Road), Fortis Escorts Heart Institute (Okhla), Dharamshila Hospital (Trilokpuri), Tirath Ram Shah Hospital (Civil Lines), Sant Parmanand Hospital (Civil Lines) and Sir Ganga Ram Hospital (Rajendra Nagar).
The combined bed capacity of these 14 hospitals is 4,881, of which the existing Covid beds are 1,756. But following the order, the number would go up to 2,441.
In another order issued by the health department, a total of 500 additional beds have been designated for Covid care in eight government hospitals, including partially Covid-dedicated hospitals Deen Dayal Upadhyay Hospital (Hari Nagar), Ambedkar Hospital (Rohini), Bhagwan Mahavir Hospital (Pitampura), Sanjay Gandhi Hospital (Mangolpuri), and dedicated Covid hospitals Deep Chand Bandhu Hospital (Ashok Vihar), Rajiv Gandhi SS Hospital (Tahirpur) and Burari Hospital.
