Cardiology dept offers all facilities at one place

Jaipur: In a move towards crowd management at Sawai Man Singh (SMS) Hospital, the authorities have taken an initiative to provide all facilities to patients at one place. To begin with, the hospital has chosen the cardiology department and opened drug distribution counters, blood sample collection centres, and billing counters at the department’s OPD.

It is for the first time that such an arrangement has been made at the hospital. Patients coming for heart-related treatment would not have to run from one place to another as they would get all facilities in the same section. Even ECG will be provided there. Earlier, patients or their attendants had to get medicines from one place, give samples at another, and get billing done at a third place.

Dr Rajeev Bagarhatta, principal of SMS Medical College, inaugurated the new facility along with hospital superintendent Dr Achal Sharma. “The integration of services at one place is a step taken to provide relief to patients,” said Dr Sharma.

Staff have been deployed to check blood pressure of patients. If a doctor feels the need for ECG, the facility has been made available at a room in the cardiology section.

The move will also help decongest the existing drug distribution counters, blood sample collection centres, and billing counters located in different parts of the hospital. It will also help decongest the corridors. If the initiative evokes good response, the authorities will introduce such integration in OPDs of the other departments.
