AIG Hospitals invests INR 800 Cr in cutting-edge proton therapy technology
The hospital has signed an agreement with IBA, a Belgium-based company, to procure the Proteus®ONE Proton Therapy System, which includes DynamicARC®.
This system is recognized as one of the most advanced forms of radiation therapy currently available.
With this new delivery technique, called DynamicARC proton therapy, the system will be the first-of-its-kind installation in South-East Asia.
Proton beam therapy is a highly precise form of radiation therapy that targets tumors with exceptional accuracy, substantially minimizing damage to surrounding healthy tissues. This technology is a game-changer in treating complex cancers, particularly in children and adults with tumors located near critical organs.
AIG Hospitals will invest INR 800 crores in this new oncology centre, making it only the third Proton Therapy Centre in the country and the first in the twin Telugu states of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh.
PVS Raju, Vice Chairman, AIG Hospitals, said, “The acquisition of proton beam therapy technology aligns perfectly with AIG Hospitals' vision of providing world-class cancer care within India.”
