Ahmedabad: The city-based hospitals have recorded exponential rise in vector-borne diseases. According to Civil Hospital authorities, the OPDs for these diseases – primarily dengue and chikungunya – has reached about 3,000 to 5,000 cases daily.

While majority of the cases don’t need hospitalization, about 150-200 patients daily need further treatment, they added. At city-based hospitals too, the similar trend is witnessed with about 50% of the cases coming to OPDs are of vector-borne diseases.
