13 government hospitals, PHCs in Tamil Nadu win Centre's awards
Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami handed over the National Quality Assurance Standards and Kayakalp state awards to 13 state-run district hospitals and primary health centres.
The district headquarters hospitals and sub district hospitals were awarded a certificate and cash incentive of 10,000 per bed. Primary health centres (PHCs) received 3 lakh each, a release said.
Between April and May, the national assessor team visited seven district hospitals, five upgraded PHCs and one PHC. All 13 centres have received the accreditation. These include district hospitals in Usilampatti (Madurai), Pennagram (Dharmapuri), Padmanabapuram (Kanyakumari), Erode, Cuddalore, Namakkal, the Nilgiris and upgraded PHCs - Morappur (Dharmapuri), Sayalkudi (Ramanathapuram), Vadalur (Cuddalore), Mugaiyur (Villupuram) and Mecheri (Salem) and Palayampudhur PHC in Dharmapuri.
On Wednesday, the chief minister presented certificates to doctors and nursing staff and cash prize of 2.07 crore.
In addition, the Kayakalp cleanliness award that promotes cleanliness in government hospitals was presented to headquarters hospitals in Cuddalore and Manaparai (Trichy) along with government hospitals in Arupukottai and Mugaiyur primary health centre. The centres received a certificate, shield and cash prizes amounting to 1 crore.
