PET-CT scanner installed at AIIMS Raipur

RAIPUR: A state-of-the-art PET-CT scanner was installed at AIIMS Raipur on Saturday. Minister of state for Health and Family Welfare Ashwini Kumar Chaubey also inaugurated 10 modular operation theatres along with the scanner.

Chaubey reviewed the progress of Covid screening, treatment facilities, and vaccination and directed doctors and officials to increase the vaccination rate because of the spike in Covid-19 cases.

PET-CT is a state-of-the-art machine working under the nuclear medicine department. A Positron Emission Tomography (PET) scan is an imaging test that allows medicos to check diseases in the body. The scan uses a special dye containing radioactive tracers.

These tracers are either swallowed, inhaled, or injected into a vein in the arm depending on what part of the body is being examined. Certain organs and tissues then absorb the tracer. When detected by a PET scanner, the tracers help doctors to see how well organs and tissues are working.

Choubey also dedicated 10 modular operation theatre at OT Complex. Chaubey interacted with patients and their relatives and took feedback on the services.
