TPR falls to 6.4%; 5,471 new Covid-19 +ve cases in Kerala

Bringing some relief to the state, Covid-19 test positivity rate came down to 6.34 on Saturday. When 85,969 samples were analyzed in the last 24 hours, 5,471 new Covid-19 cases were identified. Number of recoveries was more than the new cases as 5,835 people tested negative on Saturday.

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Bringing some relief to the state, Covid-19 test positivity rate came down to 6.34 on Saturday. When 85,969 samples were analyzed in the last 24 hours, 5,471 new Covid-19 cases were identified. Number of recoveries was more than the new cases as 5,835 people tested negative on Saturday.

With the confirmation of 16 more recent deaths as due to Covid-19, total number of Covid-19 deaths in the state became 3,970. Among the new cases, 5,027 people were infected through contact and source of infection is unknown in 322 cases. As many as 77 new Covid-19 patients have recent travel history outside the state and 45 of the new cases are health workers.

District-wise split of new Covid-19 cases: Kozhikode 750, Ernakulam 746, Thrissur 553, Alappuzha 506, Pathanamthitta 480, Kollam 460, Kottayam 376, Thiruvananthapuram 363, Malappuram 308, Kannur 279, Idukki 203, Wayanad 161, Palakkad 153 and Kasaragod133.

As on Saturday, 2,44,085 people are under observation in different districts. Among them 2,33,951 are under home quarantine and 10,134 people are admitted in hospitals. On Saturday,1,118 people were newly admitted to hospital with symptoms. Total number of hot spots in the state is 456.
