Rajasthan: 1 lakh health workers help 43 lakh to get polio drops in 1 day

A fleet of one lakh healthcare workers visited door to door on Sunday ensuring that children get their polio drops across the state. Health minister Parsadi Lal Meena launched the sub-national pulse polio vaccination campaign in the state by administering two drops of polio vaccine to children under 5 years at Mandawari community health centre in Dausa district.
"We have administered polio drops to 42.93 lakh under 5 year children in a single day, it was 57.4% of the target we have set to achieve. For the next two days, our teams will visit door to door for administering polio drops to the left out children to achieve 100% target," said Dr Raghuraj Singh, project director (vaccination), health department.
The sub-national pulse polio vaccination campaign is being conducted in two phases in the state. In the second phase on Sunday, 21 districts including Ajmer, Bhilwara, Bikaner, Churu, Dausa, Dungarpur, Jaisalmer, Jalore, Jhalawar, Nagaur, Sirohi, Tonk, Jaipur, Bundi, Sikar, Banswara, Alwar, Barmer, Bharatpur and Jodhpur were covered.
In the first phase of this year, polio doses were administered to children from birth to 5 years of age by organizing polio campaigns on June 19 in 4 districts, Alwar, Barmer, Bharatpur and Jodhpur. On Sunday, 36, 839 polio booths were installed in 21 districts.
Besides, 4,452 transit teams and 6,424 mobile teams were constituted and more than 1 lakh health workers have visited door to door to vaccinate children.
