Max swine flu cases from Gomtinagar, Indiranagar
Swine flu cases continue to rise in the city. So far, 71 positive cases have been reported in Lucknow since January this year, with maximum victims hailing from Gomtinagar and Indiranagar.
“Though clustering of the cases in different areas is yet to be done, we have observed that most of the cases have been reported from Gomtinagar and Indiranagar. The reason for this pattern is not known as of now, but residents of these two areas need to be alert and take precautions against swine flu,” said in-charge of vector borne disease unit, Dr KP Tripathi. He added that in many cases, patients were found to have no history of vaccination and also had travel history. “Once we start clustering cases area wise, a clearer picture will emerge and reasons can be traced then,” said Tripathi.
Meanwhile, to arrest the spread of such diseases, a vector-borne diseases control campaign was launched in Lucknow district on Sunday. Eleven state departments have been roped in the drive. The campaign will continue in Lucknow and 74 other UP districts till February 28.
“Eleven government departments have been engaged for active control of contagious diseases. Milestones set for particular departments have been sent to them and a micro plan has been received from each department, such as health department, the Lucknow Municipal Corporation, animal husbandry department,” added Dr Tripathi.
