Jaipur : Health dept asks pvt labs to charge less for swine flu tests
In the meeting, health department and private laboratories and hospitals discussed about the rate of swine flu tests. Private clinical establishments are charging more than Rs 4,000 for testing.
They have agreed to conduct the test in subsidised rates till March 31, the health department claimed. Directions have been issued to private hospitals and laboratories for timely release of swine flu test reports and for maintaining quality of the tests. Amid scare of swine flu, special secretary (health) Dr Samit Sharma held a meeting with private hospitals and laboratories on the issue.
In the meeting, health department and private laboratories and hospitals discussed about the rate of swine flu tests. Private clinical establishments are charging more than Rs 4,000 for testing. However, the health department officials in the meeting expressed need of cooperation of private sector in the fight against the disease.
Since the health department has already declared swine flu as a notifiable disease, the health department has asked the private labs and hospitals to reduce the cost for testing.
On Tuesday, two more persons died of swine flu in the state. The deaths were reported from Barmer and Jodhpur. So far, 26 persons have died of the disease in Jodhpur this year. There were 67 persons, among them 25 in Jaipur, were tested positive for the disease. Eighty-eight persons have died while 2,522 persons were diagnosed with the disease so far in the state this year.
