Fever cases rising in Tamil Nadu, 4,700 in hospital
Until Friday, there were 282 cases of H1N1 in Tamil Nadu among which 13 were admitted to government hospitals and 41 were in private hospitals.
"The state sees a spike in fever cases around this time every year. In 2020 and 2021 due to pandemic protocols the incidents were low. But this year, as fewer people are adhering to it, chances of it to spread is higher. Yet, numbers show we have much fewer cases compared to what we saw in 2019. Usually, around this time there are around 5,000 admissions for fever," he said.
People, particularly children, with flu-like symptoms must isolate themselves and consult a doctor for the right diagnosis and treatment, health minister Ma Subramanian said here on Saturday. Until Friday, there were 282 cases of H1N1 in Tamil Nadu among which 13 were admitted to government hospitals and 41 were in private hospitals.
Since January, the state has reported 10 H1N1 deaths, he said. On Friday, the state recorded 108 new dengue cases, two times the cases it reported the same day on August 15. Besides Covid-19, dengue and H1N1, the state is reporting a spike in another influenza.
