Delhi: Monkeypox count reaches 9, patient in hospital

The 30-year-old woman, who lives in Mahavir Enclave near Palam, runs a beauty parlour and has been in Delhi for the past six months. She was admitted to Delhi’s nodal Lok Nayak Jai Prakash Narain (LNJP) hospital on September 16 and her samples were sent to the National Institute of Virology, Pune for testing. The disease was confirmed on Sunday evening.

The same treatment protocols are being observed by officials in the monkeypox cases reported in Delhi. The majority of the patients are women, from Nigeria and are young. So far, there are six women among the nine patients who have been diagnosed with the virus in the city.
Nodal officer for monkeypox, professor Vineet Relhan, dermatology department confirmed the cases. He said their condition is being monitored by a team of doctors and all patients are stable.
