Covid cases decline, recoveries increase

Kanpur: Active cases dipped further as there were more recoveries than new cases. On Saturday, 64 people tested positive, while 213 Covid positive patients recovered. On Friday, 69 persons had tested positive and 233 patients had recovered. The active case tally then was 843, which reduced to 694 on Saturday.

The new Covid cases have come down drastically. A fortnight back, daily active cases had been standing beyond 3,000. In the second fortnight of January, highest number of single day Covid cases were recorded. Highest number of 3,800 Covid cases were recorded then. And in last two days only 133 Covid cases were reported.

The good news being that there was no Covid death. However, in last few days, Covid death toll moved upwards since a few patients succumbed at Lala Lajpat Rai hospital. One patient was discharged from Manyawar Kashiram Hospital. Meanwhile, vaccination drive would be held at different centres on Sunday. The vaccination would be held at district hospital, AHM Dufferin, GSVM Medical college, Public Health Centres (PHCs), Mcrobertganj hospital, Greenpark stadium.

Here at the vaccination centres all eligible people would be vaccinated including children above the age of 15 years. Also precaution dose would be administered to health care workers and those above 60 years of age.The district health department stated that all those getting vaccine shot should check for vaccination message on their mobile phones and in case, they do not receive any message, they should be immediately inform vaccination centre.
