C-vaccine theft: Health dept submits report

Ghaziabad: The health department has submitted its report in the Covid vaccine theft case registered in Gautam Budh Nagar involving health staff from Ghaziabad. The inquiry team prima facie found the role of an ANM posted at Budh Vihar primary health centre in the theft, even as she is still absconding and has not recorded her statement.

The department has already sacked the ANM as well as a ward boy who was arrested in the case. The duo was posted at Budh Vihar PHC. Following the arrest of two people, including the ward boy Sushil, on September 27 by Ecotech III police for allegedly selling Covid vaccine for Rs 250 per dose in Noida, the health department had formed a two-member committee.

Along with Sushil, the police had also arrested Ravi, the brother-in-law of ANM Renu. During questioning, Sushil told police that the duo had obtained the vaccine vials from Renu. The ANM had arrived for duty on September 27, but after learning of the arrests, she left the centre without informing anyone. Since then she is untraceable. A notice was posted outside her home soon after she went missing, officials added.
