“With a pandemic raging, we realized many students, especially children, would have anxiety attacks even thinking about visiting a hospital to get an injection,” said Shweta Sastri, managing director, Canadian International School. “So we thought we would ease some of that anxiety by hosting this drive-through flu shot clinic. It was truly a stress-free way to get an important vaccine.”
Dr Chetan Ginigeri, lead consultant, department of paediatrics, Aster CMI Hospital, said, “Influenza is a potentially serious infection that can lead to hospitalization and sometimes even death. Every flu season is different and an infection can affect people in different ways. In these times of the Covid-19 pandemic, it becomes even more relevant to protect ourselves against a predictable seasonal infection. Vaccination has been known to have many benefits including reducing the risk of flu illnesses.”
