People at high risk for infection who got the shots many years ago may want to consider getting a booster if they live in an area with an outbreak, said Scott Weaver with the Global Virus Network, an international coalition. Those may include family members living with someone who has measles or those especially vulnerable to respiratory diseases because of underlying medical conditions.
The restrictions on public benefits are part of a broader effort in Republican-led states to support Trump's crackdown on illegal immigration. Some states have denied driver's licenses, revoked in-state college tuition rates and increased criminal penalties for immigrants in the U.S. illegally. And since Trump took office, there's been more than a threefold increase in the number of state and local law enforcement agencies with agreements to help enforce federal immigration laws.
West Texas is in the middle of a still-growing measles outbreak with 505 cases reported on Tuesday. The state expanded the number of counties in the outbreak area this week to 10. The highly contagious virus began to spread in late January and health officials say it has spread to New Mexico, Oklahoma, Kansas and Mexico.
Many Republican legislators endorsed the bill as "pro-life." Democratic lawmakers said that it was essential for addressing Alabama's delivery health outcomes that lag behind the rest of the country.

Kennedy oversees the CDC, whose recommendations are widely followed but not mandatory. State and local governments decide whether to add fluoride to water and, if so, how much - as long as it doesn't exceed a maximum set by the EPA, which is currently 4 milligrams per liter.

In central Ohio, Knox County officials reported two new measles cases in international visitors, for three cases in international visitors total. Those cases are not included in the state's official count becuase they are not in Ohio residents. A measles outbreak in central Ohio sickened 85 in 2022.
"They make a case, a strong case, for the fact that they will succeed on the merits, so I'm going to grant the temporary restraining order," said McElroy, who plans to issue a written ruling later.
